Programmes Conducted as the Convener and Chief Organizer

• Initiative in organizing ‘Felicitation’ of ‘National Award Winner Artists’ of Marathi Film & Drama, at Balgandharv Mandir, Pune by the hands of Gandhian leaders Sri Balasaheb Bharde & Sri Anna Hajare, under banner of Pune City Dist Congress Committee in 1990.

• Two days “Nagari Samasya Parishad” on various problems of citizens of Pune organized by PCDCC, conducted as a ‘Gen Secretary’ of Pune City-Dist. Congress.

• Active Participation in Organizing the 8th “National Games” at Pune, as well as ‘Pune International Marathon’ & ‘Pune Festival’ during 1987 – 97.

• 150 Shivsainiks were brought in ‘Congress Party’ by me at the time of ‘Assembly Ele’ in 1991 of Kasba Constituency.. ‘Party Candidate’ won in this Ele.

• Conducted ‘SEMINAR’ on the burning issue of ‘Requirement of Affordable Flats/Houses of Poor man n’ Common Man in the old city as ‘Gaothan’.

Performance as a Councilor in Pune Municipal Corporation

• Member : Standing Committee of Civic Body, Pune 1992-93. Chairman ‘Audit Committee’ of Standing Committee, PMC. (During my tenure in this office I could clear number of ‘serious objections’ of the last 10 years, raised by Audit department in PMC, with necessary actions & completed long pending backlog also).

• Vice President : ‘City Improvement Committee’ (Took initiative in making ‘River Side Road') Foundation stone laid by then MP Mr. S. Kalmadi in 1994.

• Member : PWD Committee of PMC 1993-95.

• Member : Law Committee of PMC.

• I established PMC’s ideal school of “Vidya Niketan” No. 7, 1st in western Pune, in ‘my ward’ for needy & clever students, on Rajeev Gandhi’s birth anniversary, 20th August 1994.

• I established PMC’s ‘Cultural Hall’ in name of Late Sri Vasantdada Patil, in my ward area.

• Vice President : Health Committee PMC 1996-97. Took initiative for giving proposal of 1st General Hospital of PMC in Western Pune, for ‘Poor & Needy People’ in the name of Late Smt. Indira Gandhi. Still it is being struggled.

Accomplishments

• Various Public Welfare and monetary decisions were taken on the basis of my initiative and efforts (Such as Depositing Crores of Rupees of PMC in ‘Nationalized Banks’ considering experience of Co-Op Banks in Pune).

• I could prevent ‘Harmful Environmental Projects’ for the City, which were supposed to be worked out in the ‘heart of city’ and in Historical Gardens like ‘Sarasbaug, Garware Bal Bhavan’ in Pune.

• Relief program work for ‘Earthquake’ victims at Latur district, Maharashtra, as a delegate on behalf of PMC (Civic Body), worked for about a week in relief camp.

• Organized social programs like Blood Donation Camps, Tree Plantation, Free Book Distribution for poor students, Aids Awareness Drive, Computer Literacy, Free Medical Check-Up Camps.

• Conducted 4-day successful Hunger Strike for building the ‘General Hospital’ of PMC in western Pune for poor people, resolved after intervention by Hon. CM Sri Vilasrao Deshmukh.

• Tackled sensitive situation during communal riots at Solapur as the only Congress Office Bearer from other district.

• Organized Free Health Lecture Series by eminent doctors of Pune and Felicitation Program for Marathi Film Artists of movie “Shwas” nominated for Oscars in 2004.

• Received the prestigious ‘Bharat Jyoti Award’ from IIFS, New Delhi for Outstanding Performance, awarded by Hon. V.G. Krishnamurthy & Sri Bhishmanarayan Singh (Governor of Assam, Meghalaya) on 28/04/08.

• Successfully organized rallies and protest campaigns like ‘Maharashtra Bachao Andolan’, ‘Tiranga Saptah’, Unemployed Youth and Kissan Rally in Sangli with IYC President Hon. Satyajeet Gaikwad.

• Appointed as Observer by MPCC and AICC in various elections like Nagarpalika, ZP, Assembly Elections in Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, where Congress secured significant victories.

• Chief Convener for public meetings and rallies during Pune Lok Sabha Elections 2009, represented Congress on TV debates like ‘Awaj Kunacha’ on IBN Lokmat.

• Participation in key TV debates like Sachin’s nomination (Rajya Sabha) debate on IBN Lokmat on 27 April 2012 and UPA’s 3 years review on 9 May 2012.

• Authored articles on important issues published in leading newspapers like Lokmat, Sakal, Loksatta, The Hindu which received widespread recognition and positive responses.
